The Challenge
Since eBay’s launch in 1995, the secondhand goods marketplace had remained largely unchanged. The barriers to entry for both buyers and sellers were significant, limiting the market’s potential. Moreover, existing platforms were designed for a desktop-first world—an approach increasingly outdated in the mobile era. The market was ripe for disruption, but no company had yet reimagined the experience for the modern consumer.
Value Delivered
As the founding product design director, Jeremy played a pivotal role in shaping Stuffle’s success. Partnering with Widget Labs for the development, Jeremy developed a distinctive visual identity, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) that prioritized simplicity, trust, and efficiency. The result was a frictionless mobile commerce experience that set a new benchmark for digital classifieds.
Solution
Recognizing that being mobile-first was a huge opportunity, Stuffle emerged as a groundbreaking mobile marketplace that radically simplified how people bought and sold used goods. Rather than navigating complex listing processes, users could simply take a photo, provide a brief description, and instantly post their items for sale. In-app messaging replaced cluttered email exchanges, while integrated payment capabilities allowed transactions to be completed seamlessly within the app—an industry first.
Stuffle’s intuitive design and mobile-first approach reshaped the industry, influencing the development of countless digital marketplaces—including Facebook Marketplace. At its peak, Stuffle attracted over one million users and secured more than €7.5 million in funding across two successful investment rounds.
